Mbappé Trip and Cycling Post Deepen Rift at Real Madrid

The episode drew a public rebuke from José Mourinho and growing internal complaints that could affect team selection for key October matches.

Overview

Multiple outlets report that Mbappé made a same-day trip to Paris during a knee recovery period on Tuesday and later posted a cycling video to social media, actions that sparked the controversy.
Mourinho publicly warned that players should not ride bicycles during recovery and, according to on-air contributors, took Mbappé aside at a club lunch to privately reprimand him.
Club insiders told L'Équipe they feel Mbappé has not adapted to Real Madrid’s culture and image expectations after more than two seasons, creating rising unease in the dressing room.
High-profile pundits in Spain and France have intensified criticism of Mbappé and floated the possibility of a season‑end departure, increasing media pressure on both player and manager.
With a packed October schedule that includes Villarreal, AS Roma, RB Leipzig and Barcelona, reports say Mourinho may make short-term selection changes and the row could shape transfer and squad dynamics.
