Mbalula Quashes Leadership Talk, Unveils Reconfigured KZN Task Team at ANC NGC

Mbalula dismissed claims he seeks the deputy presidency or presidency and said any plot to remove President Cyril Ramaphosa at the council would fail.
He said the KwaZulu-Natal structure was disbanded for poor performance and infighting, adding that the leadership there is on its way out.
The reconfigured KZN Provincial Task Team is led by convener Jeff Radebe with deputies Wezile Thusi and Siboniso Duma, coordinator Mike Mabuyakhulu, deputy coordinator Nomsa Dube-Ncube and fundraiser Nomagugu Simelane.
On Johannesburg, he said there is no rush to make regional chair Loyiso Masuku the mayor and stressed that chairing a region does not confer mayoral status in a coalition-run city.
He framed the council as a renewal forum after the ANC lost its parliamentary majority in 2024 and entered a Government of National Unity.
