Mazón Resigns as Valencian President, Investiture Clock Starts

The investiture clock starts with Vox support pivotal to any PP nominee.

Overview

  • Carlos Mazón signed his resignation at 14:51 and registered it in Les Corts at 15:24 on Monday, becoming president in functions with full powers until a successor is sworn in.
  • Les Corts now has 12 working days to receive candidate proposals, targeting roughly November 19, with the investiture plenary to be scheduled 3–7 days afterward.
  • If no candidate secures the presidency within two months of the first vote, the chamber dissolves and elections are called 54–60 days later, pointing to early April for a possible vote.
  • The PP must negotiate backing from Vox to secure any investiture, with Juanfran Pérez Llorca widely reported as the likely pick yet not formally agreed, as María José Catalá and Vicent Mompó also circulate and Génova denies imposing a name.
  • Mazón kept his regional deputy seat, preserving parliamentary immunity, and he opted against calling early elections after discussing the option with Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
