Mazda Unveils Third-Generation CX-5 with Expanded Cabin and Mild-Hybrid Powertrain

Overview

  • The redesigned CX-5 measures 4.69 m long (+11.5 cm), 1.86 m wide (+1.5 cm) and 1.70 m tall (+3 cm) with a 2.82 m wheelbase that boosts rear legroom by 58 mm and headroom by 29 mm.
  • Mazda will offer the CX-5 exclusively with a 2.5 L petrol mild-hybrid engine (141 PS, 238 Nm) at launch, discontinuing its diesel option and promising a full-hybrid variant in 2027.
  • The cabin replaces most physical buttons with a minimalist dashboard, highlighted by a 10.25 in digital instrument panel and up to a 15.6 in infotainment screen with Google apps and Google Gemini support.
  • Safety-driven exterior tweaks include a hood raised by 5 cm for pedestrian protection and a wider grille connecting slim LED headlights, while chassis revisions bring softer suspension, improved damping, more precise steering and enhanced noise and vibration insulation.
  • Production of the new CX-5 starts in October 2025 with dealer deliveries scheduled for December 2025 at a base price of €35,000.
