Mazda Launches CX-60 G25 in Australia, Tips Base Engine to Lead Sales

Mazda targets value-focused CX-60 shoppers with a proven 2.5-litre engine at a $47,990 driveaway entry.

Overview

  • Mazda forecasts the G25 will account for about 34% of CX-60 sales, ahead of the G40e petrol (29%), P50e plug-in hybrid (20%) and D50e diesel (17%).
  • The G25 Pure is priced at $47,990 driveaway nationally ($1,000 higher in Western Australia), with Evolve and Touring grades sold at list price plus on-road costs.
  • The 2.5-litre four-cylinder delivers 138kW and 250Nm to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic, with official combined fuel use of 7.5 L/100km and CO2 of 173 g/km.
  • GoAuto’s launch review logged 8.1 L/100km on test and found the G25 suited to urban driving but likely to feel strained and less efficient when loaded, noting fussy transmission behavior and modest cabin materials.
  • Mazda confirms the 2.5-litre base engine will not be offered in the CX-70, CX-80 or CX-90, and the G25 is limited to Pure, Evolve and Touring trims under a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
