Mazda Confirms China-Built CX-6e Electric SUV for Australia in 2026
Mazda leans on its Changan tie-up to fast-track a family EV into local showrooms, with pricing and final specs to follow.
Overview
- In European specification, the CX-6e pairs a 78kWh LFP battery with up to 483km WLTP range, 195kW DC fast charging, 11kW AC charging and a single 190kW/290Nm rear motor claiming 0–100km/h in 7.9 seconds.
- The model is built in China through the Mazda–Changan joint venture on Changan’s EPA architecture and is closely related to the Deepal S07.
- All-wheel drive and the China-only range-extender (EREV) variants have not been confirmed for export markets including Australia.
- Cabin tech includes a 26-inch combined instrument and infotainment display with a head-up display, with European options such as digital mirrors, adaptive dampers and a 23-speaker audio system.
- Australian pricing and equipment will be announced closer to launch, with the CX-6e aimed at rivals such as the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 and joining the Mazda 6e to expand the brand’s local EV range.
