Overview
- The protest outside Neder-Betuwe town hall escalated into serious unrest on September 17 when demonstrators set off heavy fireworks, broke windows and released a smoke bomb at the council chamber entrance.
- Police and the Mobile Unit intervened and a police helicopter was deployed, and authorities arrested fourteen people for disturbing the public order and disobeying an emergency order.
- Twelve of the detained are from Neder-Betuwe, one is from Rhenen and one is from Buren, and all fourteen face a targeted area ban in Opheusden centre from 24 September 17:00 to 25 September 05:00.
