Overview
- Promoter Vertex Events confirmed on Monday that Maxwell’s scheduled performances at SunBet Arena in Pretoria on August 8 and Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on August 11 have been cancelled.
- Maxwell issued an apology to fans and described the cause as “unforeseen circumstances beyond my control,” with no further details released by his team.
- All ticket holders will receive full refunds and Webtickets will contact buyers directly about the refund process in the coming days.
- Vertex Events said venues and production were fully prepared, that several rescheduling options for 2026 were explored and found impossible, and that neither party is in breach of contract.
- Organisers and Maxwell’s team said they are working to secure replacement dates for 2027, and the cancellations will delay live shows and revenue that had been expected from near sell-out events.
