Mavis Staples to Celebrate 85th Birthday with Star-Studded Concert

Mavis Staples, the gospel and soul icon, will celebrate her 85th birthday with a concert featuring performances by Chris Stapleton, Hozier, Norah Jones, and more.
The event, titled 'Mavis Staples 85th: All Star Birthday Concert,' is set for April 18 at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater.
Staples considered retiring last year but decided to continue singing, citing it as her purpose for still being here.
Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster.
Staples is a member of both the Blues and Rock and Roll Hall of Fames, a three-time Grammy Award winner, and has been a civil rights activist throughout her career.
