The zoo was unsure whether the father of the 4-month-old Sumatran orangutan was 30-year-old Berani or 16-year-old Jaya.
Povich, dressed in a tuxedo, announced in a video that Berani is the father, a reveal that was met with cheers from the zoo staff.
Siska's birth is significant as Sumatran orangutans are a critically endangered species, with a rapidly declining population due to habitat loss, illegal hunting, and the black-market pet trade.
The idea to involve Povich came from Jake Kubié, the zoo's director of communications, who expressed gratitude to Povich for his involvement.
