The award was presented by his wife, journalist Connie Chung, who highlighted Povich's diverse career, including his roles as a news reporter, news anchor, and talk show host.
Chung also revealed a lesser-known side of Povich, describing him as a voracious reader, political and history buff.
Povich, who retired from his tabloid-style show 'Maury' last year, began his television career 67 years ago and hosted 'A Current Affair' from 1986-90.
Povich and Chung, who have been married since 1984, attended the event together, with Chung presenting Povich with the award.
