Overview

  • India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the state visit from September 9 to 16, marking Ramgoolam’s first overseas bilateral trip of his current term.
  • The programme includes talks in New Delhi and travel to Mumbai, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Tirupati, with a business event scheduled in Mumbai.
  • Varanasi officials said Ramgoolam will be in the city from September 10 to 12 and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 11.
  • Local authorities reported he will attend the Ganga Aarti on September 11 and visit Kashi Vishwanath before proceeding to Ayodhya on September 12.
  • He will call on President Droupadi Murmu during the visit, and officials say several MoUs are expected across trade, development and maritime cooperation as preparations in Varanasi get underway.
