Mañueco Accuses PSOE and Vox of Blocking 2026 Castilla y León Budget, Rallies PP in Palencia

He turns the budget fight into a Palencia-focused investment pitch.

Overview

  • At a PP meeting in Palencia, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco alleged PSOE and Vox are acting in tandem to derail the regional government’s 2026 accounts.
  • He framed the budget as a collective ambition with measures such as doubling the birth bonus, toll discounts, expanded housing and rent aid, free education from 0 to 3, free regional buses, and 10 firefighting helicopters.
  • The PP highlighted a 70% jump in planned Palencia investment to €151 million, citing projects including the Río Carrión hospital works, a radiotherapy unit, health centers, irrigation upgrades, road works like the Guardo bypass, environmental restoration, and new public housing developments.
  • Provincial leader Ángeles Armisén said the Junta would invest five times more in Palencia than Spain’s ministries and criticized national rules that force municipalities to amortize debt instead of spending surpluses.
  • Mañueco urged door-to-door mobilization under the slogan “less noise, more nuts” and pledged funding to launch the Medicine degree at the University of Burgos in 2026–27 even if the budget is not approved.
