Matthew McConaughey in Talks for 'The Lost Bus', Paul Greengrass to Direct
Film adaptation of Lizzie Johnson’s book about the 2018 Camp Fire, produced by Jamie Lee Curtis and Jason Blum, is in discussions with Apple Original Films.
- Matthew McConaughey is in negotiations to star in 'The Lost Bus', a film adaptation of Lizzie Johnson’s book 'Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire', which tells the story of the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California's history.
- Paul Greengrass is in negotiations to direct the film, with Apple Original Films in discussions to board the project.
- The film will be produced by Jamie Lee Curtis’ Comet Pictures and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, with Brad Ingelsby, who adapted the script, and Greg Goodman also producing.
- The film's story will be told from the perspective of bus driver Kevin McKay and school teacher Mary Ludwig, who helped navigate a bus full of children through the deadly wildfire.
- If greenlit, this will be McConaughey's first major feature film in some time, following his recent signing on to an Apple TV+ comedy series where he will star alongside Woody Harrelson.
