Matthew Macfadyen Cast as George Smiley in New John le Carré TV Series

- Matthew Macfadyen, known for his Emmy-winning role in 'Succession,' is set to star as George Smiley in 'Legacy of Spies,' a TV series based on John le Carré's novels.
- 'Legacy of Spies' will combine elements from several le Carré works, including 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold,' 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,' and 'The Honourable Schoolboy,' alongside unpublished material.
- The show is being developed by The Ink Factory, founded by le Carré’s sons, with scripts already written by Stephen Cornwell and Clarissa Ingram.
- Executive producer Graham Yost, known for 'Silo' and 'Justified,' is attached to the project, which is currently being pitched to buyers in the U.S. and U.K.
- Macfadyen follows a legacy of actors like Alec Guinness and Gary Oldman who have previously portrayed Smiley, one of literature's most enduring espionage characters.
