Matthew Koma Mocks Ashley Tisdale’s ‘Toxic Mom Group’ Essay With Instagram Parody

Tisdale’s representative says the essay did not target her celebrity friends.

Overview

  • On Jan. 5, Koma posted an Instagram Story photoshopping his face onto Tisdale’s image from The Cut and added a satirical headline, captioning it, “Read my new interview with @TheCut.”
  • Tisdale’s blog post, later reshared by The Cut as “You’re Allowed to Leave Your Mom Group,” did not name individuals, and her representative told TMZ the women speculated about in coverage were not the subjects.
  • Glamour, citing The Hollywood Reporter, noted Koma’s parody post was reported as since-deleted.
  • Duff and Koma, who met through music and married in 2019, share three daughters—Banks Violet, Mae James and Townes Meadow—while Duff also has a son from a previous marriage.
  • Koma is a veteran songwriter and frontman of Winnetka Bowling League who co-wrote Zedd’s Grammy-winning “Clarity,” and he and Duff recently collaborated on “Mature” for her album due in February 2026.
