- Mattel Inc. is developing a live-action movie based on its American Girl doll line, following the success of its 'Barbie' movie which generated $1.44 billion in global ticket sales.
- The American Girl movie will be produced by Mattel Films, Paramount Pictures and Temple Hill Entertainment, with Lindsey Anderson Beer set to write the screenplay and produce the film.
- American Girl dolls, launched in 1986, have sold more than 36 million units and have brought Mattel $103.7 million in net sales in the first three quarters of 2023.
- Mattel Films is also developing live-action films featuring other brands, including Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket, and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.
- Mattel's shares have increased by nearly 7% so far this year.
