Overview

  • In new testimony, the pilot’s brother Zac Chellingworth said Wright, during a March 11, 2022 hospital visit, asked to shift 15 to 20 flight hours from the crashed helicopter to the pilot’s own and to delete messages, calls and videos, which Robinson refused.
  • Partner Rhanii Lee and family said colleague Tim Johnston visited the Brisbane ICU days after the crash seeking the pilot’s phone and a maintenance form or logbook, with the phone withheld and the document later returned.
  • Chellingworth also told the court he was informed Wright collected Sebastian Robinson’s pilot logbook from his home and passed it to another pilot, and that he later retrieved it and sent it back.
  • Defense counsel David Edwardson KC accused the family of manufacturing claims to shield Robinson if fuel exhaustion emerged as the cause, which witnesses denied, while an uncle said he recorded the bedside talk and recalled mention of 'assigning hours'.
  • Wright has pleaded not guilty to three counts in the NT Supreme Court, the charges concern only alleged post-crash obstruction, and the jury continued after a sick juror was replaced by a reserve.
