Overview

  • The Home Run Derby starts at 8 p.m. ET Monday at Truist Park in Atlanta and will air on ESPN and ESPN2 with streaming on ESPN+.
  • Matt Olson replaced Ronald Acuña Jr. three days before the event, joining Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Byron Buxton, Junior Caminero, Oneil Cruz, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Brent Rooker.
  • Cal Raleigh enters as the favorite after leading MLB with 38 home runs at the All-Star break; the absence of defending champion Teoscar Hernández guarantees a new winner.
  • Under rules introduced in 2024, each hitter faces timed rounds with a 40-pitch cap, bonus outs for non-homers and extra outs for 425-foot shots in a three-stage bracket.
  • The winner will receive $1 million, the runner-up $500 000 and each of the other six participants $150 000 under MLB’s collective bargaining agreement.
