Matt Cardona Returns to WWE Ring for NXT Bout With Josh Briggs on Oct. 14

The booking extends NXT’s ongoing crossover with TNA following the Showdown special.

Overview

NXT General Manager Ava made Cardona vs. Josh Briggs official for the Oct. 14 episode, marking fallout from the NXT vs. TNA Showdown.
Cardona, currently a TNA star, has appeared on NXT as part of the interpromotional angle and previously interfered to cost Briggs a Team NXT spot.
The match will be Cardona’s first in WWE since March 9, 2020, and his first NXT appearance in the ring since 2016.
An Oct. 14 Battle Royal will determine the challenger for Jacy Jayne’s NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc on Oct. 25, with TNA Knockouts included.
AAA’s El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. is booked to face Lexis King in a non-title match, set up by a backstage segment involving a masked mix-up with Tavion Heights.
