Matsumura–Tanida Edge SC Karuizawa as Japan’s Mixed Doubles Selection Opens

The victory gives them the early lead in the compact series that will send one pair to December’s world qualifying event in Canada.

Overview

  • The three-pair round-robin began on September 25 at Midori Sports Park in Wakkanai, Hokkaido.
  • Matsumura Chiaki and Tanida Yasuma won the opener 6–5 with a final-end steal despite throwing first in the eighth.
  • SC Karuizawa’s Ueno Miyu and Yamaguchi Takeshi put up two in the first end and three in the fifth but conceded four steals overall.
  • The field also features Koana Momori and Aoki Go, the highest-ranked Japanese mixed-doubles duo in the world standings.
  • Japan has not secured a mixed-doubles Olympic quota, and the series winner advances to the December 2025 world final qualifier in Canada for two remaining berths.
