Overview

  • Emily Husband has been named full-time assistant coach of the Matildas under head coach Joe Montemurro.
  • She departs Central Coast Mariners after leading them to their first A-League Women championship and earning the league’s Coach of the Year award in 2023-24.
  • Husband assisted the Matildas during the recent May–June international window and previously joined Montemurro for the A-League All Stars Women’s match.
  • Her appointment helps address Football Australia’s shortage of women in senior coaching roles following the departures of Melissa Andreatta and Leah Blayney.
  • She will begin her role ahead of the Matildas’ June 26 and 29 fixtures against Slovenia and July 5 and 8 matches with Panama in Perth.
