Overview
- Mastodon released the single "Your Ghost Again" on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, calling it a direct tribute to former guitarist Brent Hinds and to drummer Brann Dailor’s late mother.
- The track was produced by Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou and is presented by the band as the first preview of their completed ninth studio album.
- Touring guitarist Nick Johnston, who joined Mastodon after Hinds’ March 2025 exit, is reported to appear on the upcoming record.
- The band announced a North American headline run called The Poisonous Weapons Tour with support from Deafheaven and Alcest, with general tickets set to go on sale June 5.
- Hinds’ disputed departure from the group in March 2025 and his August 2025 motorcycle death — a crash report later found him at fault — frame the song’s themes of grief and remembrance as the band returns to recording and touring.
