Massachusetts Norway Spruce Selected as 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

The 74-foot tree will be cut and transported to New York City, where it will be lit in a ceremony on December 4.

  • The tree, a 70-year-old Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, was chosen by Rockefeller Center's head gardener, Erik Pauze, who discovered it in 2020.
  • This is the first time since 1959 that the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been sourced from Massachusetts.
  • The tree will be adorned with over 50,000 LED lights and topped with a Swarovski star weighing roughly 900 pounds.
  • After the holiday season, the tree will be milled into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity.
  • The annual tree lighting ceremony will be broadcast live on December 4, marking the start of the holiday season at Rockefeller Center.
