Massachusetts Library Receives Book Returned After 51 Years

A Boston resident's unexpected find leads to the return of a long-overdue art book to the Worcester Public Library.

The Early Work of Aubrey Beardsley, borrowed in 1973, was returned to the Worcester Public Library after being found in Boston.
The book was returned in excellent condition to the Cambridge Public Library, which then forwarded it to Worcester.
Cambridge Public Library's Kathy Penny included a note expressing gratitude for the book's return to its original collection.
Overdue for 18,738 days, the book would have incurred nearly $2,000 in late fees, but fines were suspended in 2020.
The book is now preserved at the Worcester library and is available for in-library reading only.
