Massachusetts Library Receives Book Returned After 51 Years
A Boston resident's unexpected find leads to the return of a long-overdue art book to the Worcester Public Library.
- The Early Work of Aubrey Beardsley, borrowed in 1973, was returned to the Worcester Public Library after being found in Boston.
- The book was returned in excellent condition to the Cambridge Public Library, which then forwarded it to Worcester.
- Cambridge Public Library's Kathy Penny included a note expressing gratitude for the book's return to its original collection.
- Overdue for 18,738 days, the book would have incurred nearly $2,000 in late fees, but fines were suspended in 2020.
- The book is now preserved at the Worcester library and is available for in-library reading only.
