Mass Effect Lead Writer Leaves BioWare, Citing Legendary Edition's Success

Mac Walters, the former lead writer for Mass Effect, has revealed that the success of the Legendary Edition was a key factor in his decision to leave BioWare after 20 years.
Walters described the development of the Legendary Edition as reminiscent of the early days at BioWare, with a small, scrappy team that formed a strong camaraderie.
He expressed a desire to create a new original project, but found that this would not be possible at BioWare or EA in the foreseeable future.
Following his departure from BioWare, Walters has taken up leadership at a new studio called Worlds Untold, which is working on a near-future action-adventure game.
Despite Walters' departure, BioWare's Mass Effect series is still ongoing.
