Masked Thieves Serve Customer During Cipolletti Kiosk Robbery

The security video shows an unusual tactic that could help police identify suspects and highlights the vulnerability of small stores.

Overview

  • Two masked men entered a kiosk in Cipolletti, Río Negro, subdued an employee and locked her in a bathroom before carrying out the theft.
  • One of the assailants then stood behind the counter, rang up a paying customer, processed the payment by QR code and handed over a receipt before the pair fled.
  • After the customer left, the thieves took cash from the register, some merchandise and the employee’s mobile phone before escaping.
  • Local reporting cited the kiosk’s address at Alem 1794, corner of Río Neuquén, and gave an estimated loss that included about 500,000 pesos for the phone and roughly another 500,000 pesos in cash.
  • The full episode was captured on the store’s security cameras and shared with the press but police have not reported any arrests as the case remains under investigation.
