Overview
- Four masked men drove a black Nissan Juke into Wetherby Services and used it to ram an ATM and access the slot-machine area, according to police and footage.
- The force says two suspects attached a chain to an “&PLAY” cash pay-out machine and used the vehicle to pull it free before loading it into the car.
- A passer-by, Rupon Miah, filmed the incident, which police say took place at 2am on July 29 and shows masked men leaving the vehicle and removing machines.
- Hours after the raid the Nissan Juke was recovered in the Leeds area having been set on fire with the stolen payout machine still inside, a finding that can hinder forensic evidence.
- Detectives have made no arrests and are asking anyone who saw the vehicle between 1am and 5am or who can identify three men believed to be witnesses to contact North Yorkshire Police or Crimestoppers.
