Overview

• Two teenage girls walking near Fox River Road and North Harvest Glen Road in unincorporated Cary reported being confronted by a masked man who parked his sedan across their path.
• The girls fled home to alert one girl’s father and brother, who then circled the neighborhood looking for the vehicle.
• A 911 call led a nearby McHenry County Sheriff’s deputy to locate the sedan at Crystal Lake Road and Foxford Drive and attempt a traffic stop.
• During the stop the suspect pulled out a firearm and turned it on himself, dying at an area hospital despite life-saving efforts.
• The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry County Conservation District Police are investigating the episode with the Lake County Coroner’s Office scheduling an autopsy.
