Maryland Transit Administration Rolls Out New Fare Structure With Free Rides for Under-12s

Overview

  • Starting July 27, children 12 and under ride free on all MTA local buses, Light Rail, Metro SubwayLink, Mobility and Call-a-Ride services.
  • Baltimore City Public Schools students can use their unlimited student passes at any time across the transit network.
  • Private school students gain eligibility for the All Access Student Transit Pass and single-use prepaid student tickets have been eliminated.
  • CharmPass mobile ticketing users now enjoy a 120-minute transfer window and schools can purchase 10-ride token packs for $15.
  • Light Rail riders without a valid ticket face a $5 surcharge during inspections and a low-income fare program for SNAP recipients remains under development.
