Overview
- Governor Wes Moore announced the reinstated program after the U.S. Department of Education ended the national awards in August following a presidential order to wind down the department.
- The 2025–2026 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools are Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Diamond Elementary, Myersville Elementary, Stoneleigh Elementary, Wilson Wims Elementary, St. Louis School and Little Flower School.
- Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Little Flower and St. Louis were cited for Exemplary High Performing, Wilson Wims for Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing, and Diamond, Myersville and Stoneleigh in both categories.
- The program operates in collaboration with the Maryland State Department of Education and the Archdioceses of Baltimore and Washington, recognizing both public and Catholic schools.
- Formal recognition is planned in November at the State Board of Education and next spring at the General Assembly, with banners, flags and citations to be awarded, and application guidance for the 2026–2027 cycle due later this year.
