Maryland PSC Extends Review of PSEG’s Piedmont Power Line Into 2027

The commission prioritized a complete record over PSEG’s push for a faster decision.

Overview

  • Regulators set final briefs for Feb. 12, 2027, with public hearings in the affected counties in late September 2026 and evidentiary hearings Dec. 8–18, 2026.
  • PSEG must file updated analyses and field studies by March 2, 2026, and may include refreshed reliability data from PJM in that submission.
  • The PSC rejected the expedited timeline PSEG sought for a March 2026 decision tied to a June 2027 in-service date, saying it would not accept blackout claims without examining evidence and alternatives.

  • Opposition from landowners continues, with ongoing federal litigation over property access and a recent denial of PSEG’s request for U.S. Marshals to accompany survey crews.
