Thomas Campbell Bolling Von Goetz, 56, disrupted two Christmas Eve services at separate Catholic churches in St. Mary’s County, Maryland.
At Holy Angels Catholic Church, he dropped an onion in the aisle and later threw tangerines at a parishioner who followed him outside.
During Midnight Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, he poured whiskey into the holy water and threatened parishioners with harm.
Parishioners detained Von Goetz after he attempted to strike several people with a whiskey bottle before deputies arrived.
Von Goetz faces charges including second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, defacing religious property, and threats of mass violence.
