• On July 8, Marion County authorities released a 33-minute bodycam video and mugshot from Retton’s May 17 DUI arrest in Fairmont, West Virginia.
• The footage shows the 57-year-old struggling through field sobriety tests, refusing a breathalyzer and relying on supplemental oxygen due to lung damage from a 2023 pneumonia.
• Officers found a screw-top wine container in her Porsche, and in the video Retton invokes her celebrity status by telling police she’s “West Virginia’s First Daughter.”
• Retton entered a no-contest plea on June 10 to a non-aggravated DUI charge and was fined the standard $100 under West Virginia law for first-time offenders.
• Through her attorney, she issued a public apology taking full responsibility for the incident and affirmed her commitment to learn and make positive changes.
