Overview

  • On July 8, the Fairmont City Police Department published bodycam video and Retton’s mugshot from her May 17 arrest in Marion County, West Virginia.
  • Retton entered a no-contest plea on June 10 to a first-time non-aggravated DUI charge, posting a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and paying a $100 fine.
  • The footage shows officers detecting alcohol, spotting a screw-top wine container in her vehicle and Retton failing three field sobriety tests while using supplemental oxygen.
  • She refused a breathalyzer at the scene, was handcuffed around her oxygen tank and appeared emotional during booking at the police station.
  • Through attorney Edmund J. Rollo, Retton issued a public apology, accepted full responsibility and pledged to learn and grow from the experience.
