Overview

  • Retton was pulled over on May 17 in Fairmont, West Virginia, after police reported her Porsche was swerving on a downtown street.
  • At the scene officers detected alcohol on her breath and noted slurred speech, discovered a screw-top wine bottle in the passenger seat, and she declined chemical testing before failing all field sobriety tests.
  • She posted a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and on June 10 appeared in Marion County court to enter a no contest plea and pay a $100 fine.
  • Her attorney Edmund J. Rollo asked for privacy as she focuses on her recovery and future engagements.
  • The case follows her recovery from a severe 2023 pneumonia that landed her in the ICU and required weeks of oxygen therapy.
