Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has set a new sales record, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in history after selling over 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release.
The game, a sequel to the 2018 Spider-Man edition and developed by PlayStation Studios' Insomniac Games, was released exclusively for PlayStation 5.
This sales milestone continues the success of its 2018 predecessor, themselves record-setters, and became the fastest-selling and best-selling superhero game ever in the U.S.
The game has received positive reviews from critics, earning a 91 on Metacritic, suggesting it will continue to perform well in terms of sales.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly open to the idea of a Venom spin-off and a possible future DLC or Expansion for Spider-Man 2.
