Marvel's Fantastic Four Film to Feature The Thing’s Iconic Catchphrase

Ebon Moss-Bachrach reveals details about playing Ben Grimm, motion-capture technology, and the creative process behind Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Ben Grimm/The Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, confirmed he said the character’s famous catchphrase, 'It’s clobberin’ time,' during filming, though its inclusion in the final cut is uncertain.
The movie will mark the Fantastic Four’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is set to premiere on July 25, 2025.
Moss-Bachrach worked with motion-capture pioneer Andy Serkis and his company, The Imaginarium, to bring The Thing’s CGI performance to life using cutting-edge technology at Pinewood Studios in London.
The actor also consulted Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the MCU, for advice on portraying a motion-capture character effectively.
While Ralph Ineson’s Galactus is confirmed as the film’s primary antagonist, rumors of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appearing in the movie remain unconfirmed by Marvel or the cast.
