Echo, featuring deaf Native American antihero Maya Lopez, marks Marvel’s first TV-MA series and is the first under the new “Marvel Spotlight” banner.
- Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that Netflix's Daredevil and its extensions are now considered part of the MCU's Sacred Timeline, introducing a host of complex villains to the MCU.
- The upcoming Disney+ and Hulu series Echo, starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, is set to be a darker, edgier alternative to previous MCU shows, marking Marvel’s first TV-MA series.
- Echo will focus on the character of Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf Native American criminal gang leader, and will feature the return of Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
- Echo is the first show to be produced under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner, which will feature “grounded, character-driven stories” with less direct connection to the larger MCU narrative.
- All five episodes of Echo will be released simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9, 2024.
