Overview
- The new Marvel Comics app, which Marvel and Webtoon announced Monday, will launch on Nov. 16 and replace the long-running Marvel Unlimited service.
- The app will house more than 35,000 digital comics, including Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios titles, with plans to add other Disney brands over time.
- Webtoon will operate the platform and offer two paid tiers: a Base plan at $9.99 per month ($69.99 per year) that gives new issues after up to 90 days and an Ultimate plan at $12.49 per month ($99.99 per year) that gives new issues as soon as 30 days; a limited Founder offer sells the first year of Ultimate for $59.99.
- Marvel says existing Marvel Unlimited subscribers can transfer their libraries and reading history to the new app and will be eligible for prorated refunds, but reporting shows different final shutdown dates for Unlimited and the exact migration and refund steps remain unclear.
- The app introduces modern discovery and reading features — including a dynamic cover-scroll, personalized recommendations, a smart panel, Pull List and support for page and vertical-scroll formats — as part of a push to update user experience and attract new readers.
