Marvel Drops Jonathan Majors Following Assault Conviction

Actor's departure disrupts years of planned projects, future of 'The Kang Dynasty' uncertain

Jonathan Majors, who played the villain Kang the Conqueror in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, has been dropped from all future projects by Marvel Studios and the Walt Disney Co. following his conviction for assault and harassment.
Majors was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation for a March altercation with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
The actor's departure throws years of plans for Marvel's cinematic universe into disarray as Majors' character was to span several films and series as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next-phase answer to Thanos.
The future of 'The Kang Dynasty', in which Majors was to star, is now unclear. Disney declined to comment on whether it will recast the role of Kang or pivot in a new direction.
Majors faces up to a year in jail when he is sentenced on Feb. 6, though the judge could opt for probation or treatment instead of prison time.
