Maruti Suzuki to Build ₹35,000-Crore Gujarat Plant With Capacity for 1 Million Vehicles a Year

The board has cleared ₹4,960 crore for land at Khoraj with the state targeting first-phase production in FY29.

Overview

  • An investment letter was handed over in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Maruti Suzuki MD Hisashi Takeuchi.
  • The facility will be developed on about 1,750 acres at Khoraj Industrial Estate near Sanand provided by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation.
  • The project will be built in four phases, each adding 250,000 vehicles of annual capacity.
  • The Gujarat government projects over 12,000 direct jobs and up to 750,000 indirect opportunities through ancillary and MSME growth.
  • Maruti Suzuki’s board approved ₹4,960 crore for land acquisition and preparatory works funded via internal accruals and external borrowings, with detailed phasing and commissioning schedules to be decided.
