Maruti Suzuki Starts Victoris Exports as 'Across' to Africa, Latin America and the Middle East

The rollout advances Maruti Suzuki’s export drive, targeting more than 100 countries after the company reported 4.67-fold growth in overseas volumes since 2020.

Overview

  • An initial shipment of just over 450 units departed from the Mundra and Pipavav ports in Gujarat, with deliveries bound for regions including South Africa.
  • Export models carry the Suzuki Across badge, which is distinct from the UK-market Across that is a Toyota RAV4–based plug-in hybrid.
  • The export specification mirrors India’s Victoris with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, while select markets will also get a 1.5-litre hybrid with an e‑CVT.
  • Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce the model in 100-plus markets as part of its Made-in-India program, citing a 4.67x rise in exports from 2020 to 2025.
  • In South Africa, the Across is planned as Suzuki’s new flagship above the Grand Vitara, with local specifications and pricing yet to be confirmed.
