Maruti Suzuki Retails 80,000 Cars in Four Days as GST 2.0 Spurs Festive Surge

Lower GST rates have unleashed pent-up demand for entry-level models.

Overview

  • The company says daily customer inquiries have jumped to about 80,000, with roughly 18,000 bookings per day since Navratri began.
  • Maruti has passed on tax benefits with price cuts reported up to around Rs 1.29 lakh on select models and launched an entry-level EMI option at Rs 1,999 per month.
  • Small cars are driving growth with bookings up about 50% nationwide and near 100% growth beyond the top 100 cities, according to the company.
  • Executives warn some popular variants such as Brezza, Dzire and Baleno could face short-term stockouts within four to five days due to the demand spike.
  • GST 2.0, effective Sept. 22, moved many small cars to an 18% slab and larger vehicles to 40%, and Maruti describes the reform as a major catalyst for showroom traffic.
