Overview
- MSIL commissioned a 20MWp solar plant at Kharkhoda and added 10MWp at Manesar in early June, lifting captive solar capacity from 49MWp to 79MWp.
- Full operations at Kharkhoda, which began in February, have expanded Maruti Suzuki’s annual manufacturing capacity in India to 2.6 million units.
- An investment plan of over INR 925 crore has been announced to scale captive solar output to 319MWp by FY2030-31.
- The automaker aims for renewable sources to supply nearly 85% of its electricity consumption by FY2030-31 through solar power and green energy purchases from State Electricity Boards.
- These measures align with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Environment Vision 2050 and support India’s goals of 500 GW non-fossil power by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
