Overview
- Maruti introduced a temporary price-protection scheme on June 9 that locks current prices for Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio and WagonR for customers who book on or before June 14, 2026 while a company-wide price rise from June 1 stays in effect.
- The automaker also launched a recurring-deposit linked loan called Suhana Safar that lets buyers save an EMI-equivalent into an RD for three to six months to use the accrued amount plus interest as a down payment with partner banks.
- Company figures show strong early interest in the programme with about 8,000 enquiries and more than 1,700 bookings reported under the RD-linked finance offer.
- Maruti says the price hikes of up to ₹30,000 stem from higher commodity and other input costs, a dynamic that has squeezed margins and prompted the short protection window to preserve small-car affordability.
- The move follows capacity relief from a new Kharkhoda production line commissioned in April and comes as small-car sales have rebounded, and the market will be watched for sales momentum and margin effects after the June 14 cutoff.
