Maruti Suzuki Cuts Prices Across Lineup as GST 2.0 New Rates Kick In on Sept. 22

Maruti pledged a full pass-through of tax savings to customers, with dealer support where required.

Overview

  • In an exchange filing, Maruti Suzuki said revised ex-showroom prices take effect on Sept. 22 with reductions up to Rs 1.29 lakh, including cuts on S-Presso (up to Rs 1.29 lakh), Brezza and Fronx (up to Rs 1.12 lakh each), and Alto K10 (up to Rs 1.07 lakh).
  • Tata Motors and Volkswagen have published variant-wise reductions effective Sept. 22, with Tata Safari down by up to Rs 1.43 lakh, Nexon by up to Rs 1.25 lakh, and Volkswagen’s Tiguan R-Line cheaper by Rs 3.27 lakh and Taigun by up to Rs 1.63 lakh.
  • The GST Council’s rationalisation moves many small petrol/CNG/LPG cars (within engine and length thresholds) and qualifying diesel models to an 18% rate, while larger and luxury vehicles fall into a 40% band, prompting widespread price resets.
  • Maruti said it will compensate channel partners if needed to manage the transition and confirmed prices are updated across Arena and Nexa networks.
  • Published figures are ex-showroom (Delhi) and may vary by state and variant, and carmakers are timing the changes to tap festive-season demand.
