Overview
- On May 29, Dr Tapan Sahoo of Maruti Suzuki and Takashi Suzuki of JETRO formalized the agreement in New Delhi with Maruti Suzuki CEO Hisashi Takeuchi in attendance.
- The MoU commits both parties to support Indian startups’ access to Japan’s innovation ecosystem and enable Japanese ventures to engage with India’s startup landscape.
- Startups selected through Maruti Suzuki’s four innovation initiatives—Accelerator, Incubation, Mobility Challenge and Nurture—will be eligible for cross-border engagement.
- Maruti Suzuki has engaged with over 5,000 startups to date, shortlisting 150 and onboarding 25 as business partners through its multi-format programs.
- Both organizations will co-host events and networking activities to connect qualified startups with relevant industry and investment partners.
