Truex is currently leading the NASCAR Cup Series championship points standings this season.
Truex has won three races so far in the 2022 season with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Truex took time deciding his future plans but ultimately chose to remain with his current team.
Team owner Joe Gibbs had lightheartedly urged Truex to finalize his contract extension earlier.
