Overview
- The UK government confirmed Martin Jennings will create the statue for Queen Elizabeth II Place at Marlborough Gate in St James’s Park.
- He will collaborate with Foster + Partners on final proposals to be put before the King and the Prime Minister next year.
- The Foster + Partners masterplan envisions a Prince Philip Gate with a statue, a family of gardens with meandering paths, and a translucent glass unity bridge.
- Jennings says the statue’s design is not yet defined and he plans a listening process, aiming for stillness, dignity and an object of delight.
- The project retains a provisional construction budget of £23–£46 million excluding VAT, with the final design expected to be unveiled in 2026.
